Attention Final Year Students- Application deadline is December 1st, 2014

We are currently accepting applications from Final year (4th year of 4 year programs or 5th year of 5 year programs)  veterinary students for the VSTONE Scholar Awards.  Each year we will select a Final year Veterinary student from each of the 6 New England States to receive a $5000 VSTONE Scholar Award.  Applicants must submit a general application as well as references, transcripts and an essay as indicated on the VSTONE Scholar application by December 1st of their final year of veterinary school.  The awards will be given out in April.  Applicants must be New England residents, must attend an AVMA accredited veterinary school or college and must intend to return to New England after graduation.  Applicants not selected as VSTONE Scholars will be eligible for smaller book awards as funding allows.

At this time we are not accepting applications from 1st and 2nd year veterinary students.

As of December 8, 2011 we are accepting general scholarship applications from 3rd year (graduating in 2016) veterinary students.  Students submitting applications by February 1, 2016 will be eligible for book awards given in the spring of 2016.

Who Qualifies as a New England Resident?
Applicants are considered to be from New England if they graduated from a public high school located in one of the New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont), or if they were a resident of a New England state for 5 continuous years preceding the date of admission to veterinary school.

Qualified students who are currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school may apply for a scholarship by filling out the application forms and mailing to:

Veterinary Scholarship Trust of New England
                    PO Box 3221
                    North Attleboro, MA 02761

Applications cannot be submitted electronically at this time.

If the applicant did not graduate from a high school in New England, she/he must supply a list of her/his home (legal residence) addresses for the 5 years preceding matriculation into veterinary school.  All applications must also be signed by a New England veterinarian who knows the applicant.  A New England veterinarian is defined as one who lives in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont.

An appropriate person at the applicant's veterinary school (e.g., registrar or dean of students) must sign the application to verify that the applicant is in good standing at the time of application.  The application must be notarized.

Additional requirements for those applying to become a VSTONE Scholar are listed on the application form.
